This letter was e-mailed By Pastor William Johnson to NorthSide on April 22, 2008: Greetings from Montana! The calendar says it is spring but the snow and temps in the teens at night say winter is still here.
Just wanted to send a brief update. We had a team of 15 from the church to go on their first mission trip. We spent April 11-12th in Billings, MT working at an Indian Pow-Wow sponsored by Montana State University at Billings. We worked with Pastor Bruce Plummer, an Indian pastor from Glasgow, MT. Our mission trip consisted mainly of serving – we picked up trash, cleaned bathrooms, helped move and set up staging, and any other serving job we were asked to do. Pastor Bruce also sets up a booth at the Pow-wow where he gives free water to the attendees. At that table he provides tracts, Bibles, and Evangecubes. We did not approach people, since we were there guests, but when they would come and ask about the items, we would ask if we could share the story. We never had anyone to turn us down. The only way they could take an cube with them is if they could tell the story back to us. We gave out over 100 cubes and got to share with more people than that since often many would gather around when we started telling the story. It was a great experience for our church and they shared about is in worship service on Sunday morning.
Pray for 9 of our men next week as we go on an unusual mission trip. We are going on a spring turkey hunt with our sportsmen’s ministry. We have 3 other men that are going with us who do not attend church. We will hunt during the day and have Bible studies at night. On Thursday night, our men are taking our sportsmen’s ministry to Valley Drive Baptist Church in Miles City, MT where we will once again serve, speak, and share how their church can start their own sportsmen’s ministry. Two weeks after that we will go to Columbus, MT to do the same. This ministry has been one of the greatest outreaches to men in our community and I am excited they are willing to sacrifice time and money to go show other churches how to do the same.
I have attached a picture of our family (shown below) at the Pow-wow. Please tell Northside that we love them and appreciate their continued prayers and financial support. We look forward to seeing some of you in Manhattan, MT again this summer.
God bless,
William Johnson Gallatin Valley Baptist Fellowship Manhattan, MT
Our family is William, Teresa, my oldest son with the glasses is Quinton, and the youngest is Corban. Thanks for your prayers and support of ministry here in Montana. |
